Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: This is my mother in law, she owns a home in Twin Falls that my Father in law and her purchased in 98, he passed away in his sleep 10 years ago and she has struggled to keep her home and the upkeep.. her roof is awful and needs some help asap…. my husband and I help when and where we can, buy the cost of a roof is so great that we just cannot provide it for her and the home. She is 76 and works in the school lunchroom to pay her bills, she would give anyone the shirt off her back before providing for herself. She would be ever so grateful for this! Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: Her roof leaks often especially during the winter.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: Became a first time homeowner this year to find out he needs a new roof! Hard-working, blue collar electrician living the American dream and trying to make ends meet. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: Nominee is the most deserving person I know for this award. He is a teddy bear of a human that’s always trying to do right by others and could use some extra help before winter.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: She is my Great grandmother who recently discovered she needed to replace the existing roof and she couldn’t afford it and even with my help there was no way we could afford to get it replaced anytime soon. She deserves it because she has done a lot of giving back to her family and community and has never asked for anything in return. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: My grandmother is 82 years old and this would change her entire life with helping with something that will not be able to get done without Somone’s help!

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: He is a workaholic, awhile back he ended up getting 3rd degree burns on his left side. He has been out of work for some time and was wanting to get his roof done for the family. He gives up everything for his family and been out of work and not being able to do much. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: This guy deserves a roof, he kept putting it off for years to take care of his family, then the one year he can do it he gets put out of work.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: She is one of the most loving giving people I have ever known in my life she has seen such hard ship but still fights on she is a mother of three and very hard working and can’t seem to get ahead no matter how hard she trys she helps anyone that she can even when she has nothing she is truly deserving to have something good happen in her life her roof is really bad it leaks something horrible and she has no idea how she is going to be able to afford a new roof. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: Her x husband abandoned her after he tried to kill her literally I have helped where I can but my oldest son has cancer he just turned 18 and his medical is outrageous but she truly is one of the most deserving people I know for a good fortune right now

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: This family of 6 has had countless families under their roof to feed, listen to, and offer a place of refuge for others to feel welcomed and loved. They are a young family with 4 children who homeschool, pastor their church, and run a small farm on their acreage. This past year they’ve discovered water is collecting in lower spots on the roof and leaking over their daughter’s bedroom. They were grateful to catch it before the attic was completely compromised, but they’ve needed to deal with the water collecting problem and looked into roof replacement. After some research and bids they’ve needed to delay roof replacement do some tar covering to delay the inevitable. Meanwhile, they continue to lead our church family and manage some of the major needs our historical building and other families have. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: This family uses their home as a gift to others and steward their property as best they can. Life has stretched resources thin and they are cheerfully waiting to deal with this major problem; a compromised roof. They are the kind of people who would show up to hammer nails on someone else’s roof or welcome others to stay under their roof if they needed a temporary home. They have done that countless times. By gifting this Family with a new roof, many families will also be blessed. Thank you Rainguard roofing; for this incredible program and for considering this family’s home.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: Elderly widow ( 88 ) who has lived almost her entire life in Twin Falls, and for over 60 years at her current address. She also takes care of her adult disabled daughter who lives with her. Together they manage day to day affairs, and the family can pitch in with lawn mowing and daily chores, but none have the ability or means to provide her with a new roof. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: Nominee is old school. She never complains about what she doesn’t have, but is grateful for what she does have and volunteers what ever time and energy she might have to encouraging and helping those around her. Her home is not big, only 1100 sq ft, but it is old style wood shakes that is curling horribly.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: I am so excited and thankful for this opportunity to nominate someone so deserving for this wonderful roof. My daughter is such as selfless girl who has been through so much, I would love to surprise her with this nomination. I want to tell you why her and her little baby girl are such a great candidate, she is always giving to those she can she is a hairdresser and gives those who are struggling free services, she has a kind heart and always helping people around her. She is a hardworking single mom who has struggled herself and had some really rough past couple years. I her mother almost died from covid-19 during the pandemic and was in the ICU for 30 days, when I did pull through and get to go home my health had deteriorated tremendously it was her that helped me through, we had physically therapy and nurses coming out to my home to help but I need 24 hour care my daughter was there nursing me back to health day in and day out. My husband had to continue to work to keep his job and help pay for the medical debt we were in. My daughter would take care of me and her baby I could see the strain it was with taking care of me and still working at night I don’t know how she did it but I would have never made it without her. She never complains and took such good care and kept optimistic, I had permeant lung damage for covid had to wear oxygen 24/7 the doctors told me I would probably need oxygen for the rest of my life, I lost all of my hair she found me a wig and made me feel beautiful, my muscles had deteriorated and my strength was gone but she did those strength training exercises right with me. The whole rehabilitation lasted 8 months I have never been the same, but she still helps me. As soon as I had gotten better, we were hit with another tragedy her father was thought to have long hauler covid as well after getting covid. She was sure that something more was wrong her father went into the emergency room shortly after it was there that our family found out he had a tumor in this throat and was high risk he was life flighted to Huntsman’s Cancer Institute we were told that he might not even make the flight because of where the tumor was located. My daughter talked her dad through these scary moments telling him to stay positive and that we were with him. We drove and he was life flighted, and we all made it to Utah, we had a huge road ahead of us. My family ended up finding out my husband had tumors spread throughout his body, he had stage four adenoid cystic carcinoma a rare form of cancer. Our family was down there for a month by his side through test and surgery and radiation and chemo treatment this cancer was aggressive. He was so healthy and then he wasn’t, my daughter never wanted to leave his side she stayed in the hospital with him taking care him helping the nurses. We did receive the new that his cancer was uncurable and that devastated us all, we had been through so much. We found out that his cancer was aggressive, and we only had so much time. He had to fight for his time he had to keep doing his treatments, my daughter came with us to every treatment every doctor’s appointment every hospital visit. She took such good care of us both and was by our sides through this hard time my husband was so close with his daughter and granddaughter they were the light of his life and keep him strong and fighting until his fight ended this last January. He was so young, we lost so much, and my daughter and granddaughter lost so much. He was her rock and protector, but I am so proud of her she stills mourns him every day, but she has taken care of me, and her daughter helped me with thing that he uses to do, she has taught her stuff that she didn’t know so that she could step up and take care of the family. We were already in medical debt with myself and have my husband medical debt we are drowning in medical bills, but my daughter had been working and helping me with them. We wish we could afford to fix her roof but neither of us can financially. My health and my husband gone, and my daughter took off time to help us we are just trying to stay afloat. My husband had wanted to redo my daughter’s roof for a while and told me that he was going to do that this spring, but he was never able to please vote for my daughter to receive the roof help us take care of her now and please help me finish my husband wishes for my daughter and her baby. She is such a wonderful person anyone who knows her would agree and she had been through so much this would be such a wonderful blessing. Is there anything you would like the 1% close to home committee to know?: I would feel like she would be so humble and excited to win this roof would lift her spirits tremendously. She is so deserving, she is really the kindest person and helps out whoever she can, with nothing in return I would love to see her be helped out for a change, she is strong, but these last years have beat her down and she remains as strong as she can for her family and baby. I want to just thank you for the opportunity and consideration.

Why do you feel they are deserving of a new roof?: Nominee lost her mother in August of 2022. Her mother left her with a home that had not been taken care of in several years. She was appointed Personal Representative of her mother’s estate and is trying to sell her home has been told the home needs lots of repairs including a new roof. Her mother did not leave much money to help clean the house out or do any repairs to the home. Her brother, her only sibling, passed away recently leaving Nominee to handle all of their mother’s affairs by herself. She would be so deserving of winning the new roof for her mother’s home. In fact, it may give her the energy to continue on and sell her mother home and put closure on her mother and brother’s deaths. Thank you for considering Nominee for this. I have seen the nominee shed many tears not knowing how she is going to make all the repairs to her mother’s home in order for it to sell, now that her brother has now passed away and left her to manage all of this by herself.
